Exclude with ! and anchor with ^ and $

“invoice !draft” leaves out drafts, “^invoice” finds names that start with it and “final.pdf$” names that end with it. They mix with ext:, size: and mtime: filters.

How to do it

  1. Press ⌘F and type a name term, for example invoice.
  2. Add !draft (or -draft) to leave out names containing draft.
  3. Use ^invoice for names that start with invoice, or final.pdf$ for names that end with final.pdf.
  4. Combine them with filters such as ext:pdf, size:>1MB or mtime:<7d. All terms must match.
  5. Every filter shows up as a chip; check them before acting on the results.
