Merge two folders with the same name

When a folder already exists, the clash sheet can merge the two instead of replacing one.

Recorded in FileOctopus on demo files. No audio. Use the full-screen button to watch it larger.

How to do it

  1. Copy or move a folder into a place that already has a folder with the same name.
  2. In the sheet that opens, choose Merge….
  3. A preview counts what would happen: new items, items with the same name, and identical items that are skipped.
  4. Pick what happens to items with the same name, then click Merge. Nothing changes before that, and ⌘Z undoes it.
